Tuesday

This week at the Shepparton Golf Club competition started on Tuesday with 76 plyers hitting off in the John Taig Stableford Medley competition. A Grade saw Shane Falla claim the win with 39 points from runner up Leigh Gould with 36 points on a count back to Phil Squire and Luke Turcato. In B Grade the win went to Simon English with 39 points from runner up Greg Burness with 37 points on a count back to Gary Dickason. Ball placegetters required 34 points on a count back for a prize and the nearest to pin on hole 12 went to Brian Mehmet with 191cms.

Wednesday

Wednesday’s Tim Arnold & Choices Flooring Shepparton women’s Stableford competition saw 54 players grace the fairways with A Grade seeing Leah Boyd claim the win with 39 points from runner up Karen Shannon with 38 points. In B Grade our winner after a tight contest was Jo-Anne Foster with 42 points on a count back to runner up Viv Jeffery. Ball placegetters required 34 points on a count back or better to claim a prize and the nearest to pin in A Grade Pro Pin on hole 2 went to Karen Shannon with 672cms, B Grade Pro Pin on hole 2 went to Jennifer Tomkins with 263cms and hole 12 went to Leah Boyd with 614cms. In the 9-hole Stableford competition for the women came down with a good battle for the win going to Karen Hall with 22 points on a count back to runner up Karen McMullan.

Thursday

Thursday saw 102 players in the days Jimmy Pattison Memorial 4 Person Ambrose Medley. In what was a great day for raising money for the Beyond Blue Foundation we saw the team of Greg Pearson, Phil Priestly, Paul Ranson & Leigh Findlay with a round of 54.5 from the runner up team of Veronica Hibble, Mick McAullife, Janine McAullife & Michael Coyne with a round of 55.Ball placegetter teams required 55.75 or better for a prize while in the nearest to pins hole 2 went to Jim Mitropoulos with 363cms, hole 5 went to Phil Priestly with 210cms, hole 12 and A Grade Pro Pin went to James Faram with 100cms, B Grade Pro Pin went to Mark Morthorpe with 600cms, C Grade Pro Pin went to Dean Patteson with 415cms and Michael Coyne claimed hole 17 with 338cms. Thursday was also the completion of the men’s KFC Chicken Run with 109 players taking to the course over the 2 days with a great win going to Dale Thomas with 24 points from runner up Wayne Ford with 22 points on a count back to Declan Newbound. Ball placegetters required 19 points on a count back or better for a prize while the nearest to pin on hole 2 went to Lachlan Gilligan with 93cms and hole 5 went to Greg Bennett with 307cms.

Friday

Friday saw a good field of 56 players in the women’s KFC Chicken Run with a well-deserved win going to Wendy Davies with a very tidy 24 points from runner up Liz Connick with 23 points. Ball placegetters required 19 points on a count back or better to claim a prize while the nearest to pin on hole 12 went to Ros Wright with 102cms.

Saturday

Saturday saw 168 players hit off in the Elders Insurance Stableford competition. In the women’s competition there was a tight tussle had with the win eventually going to Karen Hall with 38 points on a count back to runner up Vivien New. In men’s A Grade Colin Basham claimed a good win with 40 points from runner up Lewis O’Sullivan with 38 points. B Grade saw a Bruce O’Connor take the prize with 40 points from runner up Matthew Cullen with 38 points. C Grade saw Phil Giddens with a top of the leader board win with 41 points from runner up Gavan Barry with 39 points. Ball placegetters in the women required 34 points or better while the men required 35 points on a count back or better for a prize. In the nearest to pins Hugh MacLennan took out both hole 2 and C Grade Pro Pin with 150cms, A Grade Pro Pin went to Spencer Sharp with 191cms,B Grade Pro Pin saw Darren Leeder take home the spoils with 485cms, Mark Georgio claimed hole 5 with 104cms, the 12th hole went to Matthew Bartlett with 58cms and hole 17 was taken out by John Mortimer with 142cms.

Sunday

Sunday saw 31 entries for the Stableford Medley competition which saw Patrick Cleave take the win with 41 points from runner up Shannon Damchev with 38 points on a count back to Thomas McCluskey. Placegetters required 33 points on a count back for a prize. The days 9-hole Stableford competition went to Mitchell Younger with 16 points from runner up Anne Pegg with 15 points. Sunday also saw the end of the weekly competition with Jack Henry taking the win with 16 points on a count back to runner up Matthew Bartlett, Robyn Wallace and Beaumont Farrell.

Upcoming Events

To the week ahead Wednesday sees the women’s Christmas Breakup 12-hole 4 Person Ambrose with a 9am Shotgun start followed in the afternoon with the men’s Chicken Run. Thursday is a Stableford Medley competition followed in the afternoon with the men’s Overflow of the Chicken Run, Friday brings together the women for the Chicken Run, Saturday is a men’s and women’s Stroke competition with the men’s Monthly Medal decided and Sunday sees both a 18- and 9-hole Stableford Medley events. Not to forget of course our weekly 9-hole competition. So come grace our great course here at the Shepparton Golf Club and as always Happy Golfing!
