Tuesday

This week at the Shepparton Golf Club with some great weather came some great golf with competition starting on Tuesday with 66 players teeing off in the Nigel Shellie Tiling Par Medley competition. In A Grade we saw a good battle for the win go to Ed Flanagan with +3 on a count back to runner up Ken Baxter and Kevin Boote. B Grade saw a comprehensive win go to Gary Berry with a very nice +6 from runner up Colin Phillips with +2 on a count back to Owen Kelly and Michael Dwyer. Ball placegetters required +2 on a count back or better for a prize while the nearest to pin on hole 12 went to Simon English with 234cms.

Wednesday

Wednesday saw 54 women hit off in the National tiles Par competition. In A Grade Jacinta Harrington took home the win with +1 from runner up Norma Pollock with 0 on a count back to Sonya Hill. B Grade saw the win go to Roselea Priestly with a solid +4 from runner up Mort Davies with +3 on a count back to Dianne McMinn, Theresa Murray and Suzy Phillips-Limon. C Grade saw a tense battle with the win eventually going to Gillian Anderson with +4 on a count back to runner up Viv Jeffery and Chris Dwyer. Ball winners required +3 or better for a prize while the nearest to pins went to Di Wood on hole 2, Hole 5 went to Kim D’Arma, Marcia Walker claimed hole 12 and Teena Hicks took out hole 17. In the women’s 9-hole Stableford competition we saw a close competition with Fiona Hand winning with 19 points on a count back to runner up Rosemary Tyquin.

Thursday

Thursday 74 players graced the course for the Bridgestone Stableford Medley competition. In A Grade Mike Hall had a table topping win with 41 points from runner up Ryan McKenna with 39 points. B Grade saw a well-deserved win go to Brian Mehmet with 40 points from runner up Robert Crow with 38 points. Ball placegetters required 37 points on a count back or better for a prize. Nearest to pin on hole 12 went Ken Baxter on his way to also claiming A Grade Pro Pin with 167cms, B Grade Pro Pin went to Kevin Preece with 1350cms, C Grade Pro Pin went to Colin Phillips with 796cms and hole 17 was claimed by Brett Johnstone with 233cms. Thursday also saw the completion of the men’s KFC Chicken Run with 139 players over the 2 days the win went down to the wire with Brandon White claiming the prize with 23 points on a count back to runner up Sam McKenna and Thomas Jeffery. Ball placings went to players with 19 points on a count back or better while the nearest to pins went to Ben Wellington on hole 12 with 171cms and David Daws took out hole 17 with 182cms.

Friday

Friday saw 24 players in the women’s 9-hole Stableford competition with Terri Edwards taking the win with 22 points from runner up Karen Hall with 21 points. Ball placegetters required 20 points on a count back or better to secure a prize.

Saturday

Saturday saw a good field of 176 players in the David Faram sponsored Par competition. In the women’s competition the win went to Woodburn-Evans Head Golf Club visitor Kellie Bolger with +5 from runner up Karen Hall with +4 on a count back to Julie Cobbledick. In men’s A Grade Ymer Mehmet claimed the win with +5 from runner up Graeme Waight with +4 on a count back to Daniel Adem. B Grade saw the battle of the junior golfers with Christopher Stivactas continuing his good form with a +3 win over Noah Sabri with +1. C Grade win went to Daniel Bagley with a very tidy +5 from runner up promising junior Lennix Mellington with +3. Ball placegetters in the women required +2 on a count back or better while the men required 0 on a count back or better for their prize. Nearest to pin on hole 2 went to Geoff O’Sullivan with 57cms with the effort also gaining him the C Grade Pro Pin in the process, A Grade Pro Pin went to Colin Basham with 155cms, Alan Kellock took home B Grade Pro Pin with 235cms, Kim Morris won hole 5 with a oh so close 13cms, hole 12 went to Peter Holland with 259cms and Ben Snow walked away with hole 17 with 150cms.

Sunday

Sunday 44 players hit off in the Stableford Medley competition with Matthew Brannelly taking out A Grade with 38 points from runner up Tocumwal Golf Club guest Jordan Hicks with 36 points on a count back to Ben Sibio and Thomas Jeffery. B Grade saw the win go to Chris Feldtmann with 40 points from runner up Billy Bagley with 37 points. Placegetters required 33 points or better to claim a prize. Sunday also saw the culmination of the weekly 9-hole competition with Leanne Bailey taking out the win with 20 points from runner up Colin Senior with 19 points.

Upcoming Events

Onto the week ahead the women hit off in a 4BBB Stableford competition and a 9 hole Stableford competition followed in the afternoon with the men’s Chicken Run, Thursday we have a Stableford Medley competition with the afternoon having our Overflow for the men’s Chicken Run, Friday the women see the morning in with a 9 hole Stableford competition, Saturday see both the men and women in a Par competition, Sunday has a Stableford Medley competition available and as always we have the weekly 9 hole Stableford competition you can play any day. So if you’re hankering for a bit of friendly competition or just some social golf come join us at the Shepparton Golf Club and as always Happy Golfing!
